Infrastructure Engineer – Azure & Microsoft 365

What you'll do
• Look after a hybrid estate of on-prem and Azure: servers, storage, VMware, backup and the core network, keeping it stable, secure and running well.
• Build, manage and improve Azure services, including VMs, storage, networking, identity, access controls and subscription governance, and help move more workloads to the cloud.
• Run the Microsoft 365 platform (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) as the second-line escalation point, and manage Entra ID, MFA, Conditional Access and Intune device management.
• Take on the harder technical problems passed up from the service desk, including hardware faults and vendor repairs.
• Handle patching, upgrades and changes through a formal ITIL process, and take part in incident, problem and root-cause reviews.
• Help deliver infrastructure projects and migrations, automate repetitive work, and keep runbooks and documentation up to date.

What you'll need
• 5+ years in infrastructure engineering or technical operations, ideally with a degree in IT, Computer Science or similar.
• Strong Windows Server skills: AD, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• Hands-on experience running Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune.
• Good working knowledge of Azure administration.
• Experience with VMware, storage and backup.
• A solid grasp of networking: LAN/WAN, routing, switching and firewalls.
• Working knowledge of ITIL incident, change and problem processes.
• Nice to have: PowerShell scripting, AKS, CI/CD, GitHub and Infrastructure as Code, and experience with monitoring tools.
• Certifications valued: Microsoft 365 Administrator, AZ-104 or AZ-800, CCNA or CompTIA, ITIL Foundation, and a security certification such as CISSP.
